The Wii Console And How It Has Transformed Gaming

All of us like to have a laugh and a joke, we play games and we can do this on our own, with our family or as part of a group of friends. No matter how or when we like to play the gaming console is becoming one of our favorite ways of doing this and has become a part part of socialising and the Wii Console has a really big part to play in all of this in my opinion.
The Wii came out in competition against the 360 and PS3 and although it may not be as technologically advanced as far as games or graphics is concerned it centres around family fun. The games are less serious and cute and then there is the actual way it works as well, not like any other console I’ve ever seen before.
For a start off the controller isn’t a controller at all! So what is it? Its called a remote, much like your TV remote you have to point it at the TV where you’ll put a sensor included with the console. The sensor can detect where you are pointing but not only that it can tell how you move or swing and how much force you’re using as well.
So in 2006 when this console came out people were happy to see something fresh and different and for those Nintendo fans they were even happier to find out that you can play old GameCube games and use the GC controllers and memory with the Wii a function that Nintendo has kept along most of its consoles, fixed as well as handheld. The Ds can even be used alongside the Wii and as a controller in some games!
There are also usb ports and memory storage and the facility to connect to the internet so this little white simple looking box isn’t as featureless as the 360 fans may have you think it is! The internet connection also known as WiiConnect24 is a gem in itself.
The connection stays on and doesn’t cost you anything except what you’re already paying for your internet no fees are charged, this means you can play games alongside friends and chat to them, you can now even buy accessories that mean you can voice chat to that same friend as well which makes your gaming play even more fun than it was before!
There is even a parental control setting, although the console is based around fun and cute games there are also the usual shoot em up’s and more violent games for the older market. Concerned parents can set an age limit based on the PEGI ratings on the games to put their minds at ease. Another cool accessory taking the world by storm is the Wii Fit Board.
The board is used in usual games but is now mainly used as a fitness tool or step meaning that the physical side to the Wii has really shone out now. People were sceptical at first saying that it won’t be any different to sitting on the sofa and staring at the TV. Well when you can do a full workout with a virtual personal trainer I have to beg to differ!
